ABOUT

Meet the Artist

I’m Temilola Adekunbi Salami, the artist behind Kunbi Art. I was born in Ibadan and grew up in a big, close-knit family of six, and I’ve always been the expressive one — the person who needed to make things with my hands. My middle name, Adekunbi, means “crown adds to birth,” and that sense of purpose and legacy guides everything I create.

I studied Psychology at the University of Ibadan, but my creative journey took a different path — one that led me into the world of interior design, art, and storytelling. For over five years, I designed spaces and sold art pieces and decor accessories, but somewhere along the line, I realized I didn’t just want to curate beauty. I wanted to create it. That’s how Kunbi Art was born.

My work is bold, textured, and layered, just like the human experience. I use resin, 3D materials, automotive elements, and recently, augmented reality to create pieces that make you feel something. Whether it is a luxury car framed like art or a textured canvas that plays with light and shadow, I am all about creating pieces that command attention and start conversations.

I like to think of my art as a mix of intuition and intention. It is deeply personal, but it also has room for you — your emotions, your memories, your interpretation. That is the kind of connection I aim for with everything I make. Art, for me, is more than decoration. It is how I express myself, tell stories, and connect with people. And I am just getting started.

I discovered resin art during the COVID lockdown. I remember seeing a piece online that stopped me in my tracks — the depth, the finish, the way it seemed alive. Four years later, I started experimenting myself, and it changed my life. Today, I create everything from automotive art and textured wall pieces to geode resin art with real gemstones and crystals.

When I am not in the studio, you will probably find me playing tennis or volleyball, working out, or daydreaming my next idea. I am passionate about helping other artists find their own creative voice, and one of my biggest goals is to build an art academy for self-taught talents like me.

In 2025, I had the chance to exhibit my work at the IRIRI Art Gallery’s group show at Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. It was my first public exhibition, and it meant a lot to see my pieces connect with people in person. It reminded me why I do this — to create meaningful, unforgettable experiences through art.
